At Dan Rob Electrical Services we are able to provide a wide range of electrical services. Our team are continually expanding their knowledge of new technology and services we can offer our clients. Below are some of the main fields we cover, if there’s something you need help with then please do contact us.
Solar Energy
At Dan Rob Electrical we offer a bespoke Solar Installation Service tailored to your needs as well as your budget. We offer free site surveys to enable us to provide you with an accurate quote for your home or business.
Solar Photovoltaic Systems (also referred to as Solar PV or PV system) are one of the most popular ways to save energy and money. We use the very best materials available and that’s why our solar panels are MCS certified and backed up with the most robust guarantees in the industry
The energy from the sun is entirely free and abundant in supply with the ever effect of global warming. Anyone using a Solar PV system can access this power source, and with today’s advances in technology, this really makes it a sensible alternative to the ever increasing energy bills. Homes and businesses are saving money right now with this amazing, yet simple, technology. For further information or advice on:
- Design – Packages tailored to suit your needs and demands based on our proposal.
- Installation
- Commissioning
- DNO Notifications – Before installation for greater than 3.68kW and 28 days + after installation for systems less than 3.68kW.
- Maintenance – Solar PV systems need very little maintenance. A yearly check of the panels and 5 yearly checks for the electrical system is recommended.
Battery Storage
This technology has been around for many years. Only now we are really making the most of this by adapting a battery to store our excess solar power during the hours of sunshine, to then use in the evenings when demand is at its highest.
Over recent months we have seen energy prices go up by as much as 54%, this is way above the national increase of around 8% per year. With further price increases imminent, battery storage is definitely the way forward.
What if you can’t have solar?
If you own an electric vehicle and are fortunate to be on an EV tariff then you don’t need solar at all. Between the hours of midnight – 4am you are able to charge your car and home batteries for an incredible rate of around 7.5p/P/kWh. This means for 10kW worth of energy it will cost you around £0.75p. For the same energy during the day (£0.27) this would cost around £2.70. A saving of around £1.95 per day (£711.75 a year).
An average 3 bed family home in the UK uses around 4000kWh of electricity a year (around 10.95kWh per day). So without high demands for prolonged periods and start up currents within your home a 10kW battery could run your home most of the day, just dipping in and out of the grid when large loads start up.
Can I charge my car off my battery?
No. An average car battery is around 50kW. An average house battery will be around 10-20kW depending what system you have. So in theory yes but in reality it will only part-charge your car and you’ll have no energy for your home.
We are an improved installer for:
Electric Vehicle Charging Points
We are OZEV Approved Installers which means we can claim up to £350 for the installation of your electric vehicle charge point. This grant is available for people who live in a rented property or own a flat with dedicated off-street parking.
OZEV also offers a separate Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) grant which can be claimed by any business, charity or public authority and provides up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing workplace charging points, up to a maximum of 40 sockets.
From the 30th June 2022 all electric vehicle charge points must have smart functionality, randomised delayed charging and DNO control in order to comply with new legislation.
We are improved installers for the following brands:

Electrical Installation Conditioning Reports (E.I.C.R)
Also known as landlord reports we offer both Domestic & Commercial electrical reports. This may be for insurance, re-sale or rental purposes. All relevant NICEIC certification will be handed over upon completion of the inspection. Types of installations we cover are:
- Single Phase Installations – Domestic & Commercial Properties.
- Three Phase Installations – Domestic & Commercial Properties.
Rewires
Over the course of 10 years we have collectively completed over 2000 rewires whilst sub-contracting to local companies and for the local authorities. We can overcome most issues that may seem daunting to you or any other electrical companies so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We offer the full design, installation and commissioning of all our rewires, personally tailored to your requirements.
We firstly, will arrange a site visit to get the feel of what it is you require, advise where necessary and offer to future-proof your home. With a standard off-road parking rewire, we include an electric charging cable run from the consumer unit to a desired location (chosen by you) to future-proof the home. Some frequently asked questions:
- How often should my home be rewired? – Guidance is that your electrical wiring should be replaced every 25 years.
- Is rewiring a messy job? – Yes. An electrical rewire can be a messy and disruptive job however, we try our best to ensure the least amount of disruption possible.
- Cost to rewire? – Prices start from around £2,999.00 +VAT however, this is depending on house type and size.
- What guarantee do I get after a rewire? – A 1 year labour warranty and all of our installations come with a standard NICEIC 6 year guarantee.
Three Phase Installations
A three phase supply provides up to 400 volts of power as opposed to the standard domestic power output of 230 volts and single phase. We work with three phase systems ranging from complete installs, main distribution panel replacements to the extra three phase socket or motor.
Smart Home Technology
Smart technology has vastly improved over the last 5 years, which has given us the opportunity to control our heating, lighting and security systems via our smart phones. This gives us the option for:
- Smart Lighting – Bespoke designs, tailored to each property and your needs.
- Smart Thermostats – Nest, Hive, Honeywell, Drayton & Tado.
- Smart Security Systems – Ring Doorbell & Wi-Fi CCTV.
CCTV
Security cameras allow you to relax, safe in the knowledge that your home or business is being protected, no matter where you are. Whether it’s for your home or business we can offer you a tailored package to suit your needs. We are approved Hikvision CCTV installers, we only use the very best digital technology to give you the best security possible.
There are a number of benefits to investing in CCTV:
- Remote access 24/7, anywhere in the world (providing you have internet connection).
- It acts as a useful deterrent to intruders.
- Can lead to reduced insurance premiums.
- If you are subject to a crime, it will aid the authorities in finding the perpetrator.
Consumer Unit Replacement
Before we recommend this we would complete an electrical installation conditioning report (EICR) to check the electrical integrity of the installation. Depending the outcome of the electrical inspection we would then either recommend a consumer unit change or if has failed we would recommended getting the remedial works carried out in order to bring your property up to standards during the consumer unit change. In severe cases we would recommend a full electrical rewire, as the cost of repair would be greater than the cost of rewiring. This type of work should only be carried out by qualified electricians. We have seen some horrendous work over the years where customers have bought a consumer unit and attempted changing it themselves.
Data Cabling
Patch Panel Installation comes with several benefits for anyone using a cabled internet connection. Network cables can be attached to any device with an appropriate port (RJ45 connection). This includes computers, phones, printers and any other internet-enabled device that keeps your business functioning.
We will be able to design and install a patch panel that meets your needs.
We offer the following:
- Data cabling installations.
- Cable network solutions.
- Network wiring (including WiFi)
- Network testing.
- Network cabling repair.
Emergency Lighting
Our emergency lighting services cover design, installation, and maintenance, ensuring that businesses are compliant to BS 5266-1. We offer monthly and yearly subscriptions to complete your emergency lighting tests.
- Monthly Testing – Turn off supply to lights then walk past all emergency lights to ensure they are working. Note any defects and get repaired immediately. Record your results in your fire safety logbook.
- Yearly Testing – Switch off the mains power supply to the lighting unit. Leave the units illuminated for the rated period (usually three hours). The lights should be on for the whole period. If lights fail within this time, replace the back-up battery or light fixture.
Portable Appliance Testing (P.A.T.)
Portable Appliance Testing or PAT Testing is the process of checking electrical appliances for safety through a series of visual inspections and electronic tests yearly, we will provide:
- An inventory containing each appliance type, name, location and description
- A full set of test results for each appliance tested
- A full list of any failed items with an explanation of their failure
- A visible pass or fail label on each appliance detailing the inspection date, next test due and the inspector’s signature.
